When summer comes, I get so excited thinking about how to "redo" my classroom. Not a whole lot of options, but I do switch it up a bit. So this year, I have less students than last year. Less students means MORE SPACE. I don't have desks in my room, I have really cool, round tables from Ikea. You can write on the surface using Expo markers.....can I get an "Awesome"?? I decided to use 2 of these tables to put in a secluded section in the back of the room to make a reading cafe. I will have a few pretzels, animal crackers (depending on food allergies) in bowls on the tables. There will be a rotating schedule for when everyone will get to go into the reading cafe.
I kept thinking about how I wanted to separate the cafe from the rest of the materials in the classroom. I decided that I would hang banners, from the ceiling, in a large rectangle formation. I bought different colored poster board and cute them each in half. I used our building's Vinyl Cutter to add some pizzazz.
I searched on Pinterest for cute, creative, inspirational quotes for the classroom. I found some great ones. I typed them up in Adobe Illustrator and hit the vinyl machine. It cut the letters for me and I transferred them to the poster board. I am going to hot glue ribbons to the top of the banners and velcro the other end to my drop ceiling in the classroom. I think the kiddoes are going to love the new look!!
